This week I was able to return to a place I had previously done an internship at--JoAnn Kane Music Service. It was awesome to get to see everyone again and reconnect with all my friends. A lot of people had no idea I was coming back, which made for some hilarious interactions from some very surprised people. The office was in a new location too, so it was something to get used to. The library had moved all the way over to another part of the city, and this new office was a bit smaller, but cozy. It was still only a few buildings down the same street from the year before, which made it still very easy to find and thankfully still close enough for me to walk to.
After saying hello to everyone we had our usual morning meeting at 7:30am and got right to work. I remembered a lot about the backroom processes, but basically the first few days have all been refreshers for me to make sure I get absolutely everything right and correct. Some of my first tasks were booking up one of the movies to be sent to the library, Ghostbusters, as well as working to tape and print out scores for a new movie. The next day I was again reintroduced to backroom processes, like creating an instrument list to send over to the Family Guy session to make sure everyone had all the instruments they needed, as well as creating, updating, and fixing breakdowns. Breakdowns are basically a list of every cue and part within a certain project. This is another great way to check through our finished parts to make sure everything is there to send to the stage for recording. After learning more about creating a Family Guy session, I helped create some hand binded scores as well for James Newton Howard.
Overall, a very good first few days of learning everything again! People were super nice and patient with me to make sure I remembered everything. As always, they were super busy days at the office, but I always returned home feeling like I’d done a lot with my days like last year. This weather can’t be beat.
