Slowly but surely, I’m getting to work on more and more stuff. Er...I guess pretty quickly, but the work days are so long, that it feels slowly to me! I’ve also got a lot of stuff lined up I want to do while I’m in LA this time around, and thankfully the train keeps me moving! Even back to Santa Monica, where it recently opened. I’m now into my second week at my new internship and have pretty much remembered everything I had learned last year, and am now moving onto some bigger stuff.
I learned a lot from finishing up the Family Guy printing and assembling this week. There are a lot of rules I need to follow when making sure everything works perfectly for the recording session as well as how the people that run it want it to look and how many copies of each part, etc. In the end, we got everything together and was able to pack it up and send it with one of our Librarians to the scoring stage. With Family Guy out of the way now, the next few days I worked on some different projects. After the weekend and some much needed sleep, I was able to come back the next week and tackle some more stuff!
Next, came a lot of scanning. I was introduced now to using the book scanner. We have a really nice scanner in our large printer, but it only can scan scores up to a certain size, so they have a nice book scanner to work with. It was really hard to get the hang of (especially with scores that are lightly written or have different colors) but eventually I got some good looking scans! There were some scores we needed to scan for Alexandre Desplat for his recent movie that had some colors on them that I was thankfully able to capture! The book scanner took a lot of time to work, so that’s what I did for most of the day. Gave me some nice time to listen to some great NPR podcasts and relax a bit!
