The Mimic the Mix project was one of great frustration and great triumph. The drums in particular were really hard to grasp. After a long time trying to get the snare sound I still had gotten no where that I had wanted it to sound like. After meeting with my team and seeing what methods they had used I finally realized what to do to get my snare to sound a lot more like the mix. In particular was the extreme cutting of the 1kHz band on an EQ. This helped out so much, and paired with a reverb and a few other things, my snare had officially made a lot of progress. The kick drum is a lot closer than before but still feels somewhat off.
The rest of the mix, with some work, came together very well, in particular all the delays throughout the song. Those were very satisfying to get just right and mix in with the rest of the song. The vocals were easier to match than the drums but the reverb was still a little tricky to get. I tried a lot of plug ins and some got close but none matched completely.
Overall the mix was very rewarding and helped me a lot with EQ and and matching a certain sound.
