Harvesting some great sounds

For our second Tracking Project I was able to bring in a friend of mine, Jon Allen. He is a local player and has written a few songs. For our session we had Jon record his guitar, voice, and tambourine and shaker to play his song, Harvest Towns
We got in the studio early in the morning and started working. I was very happy with how set up went. I told Jon to come to the studio around 10am to allow us an hour to get everything set up. However, we were all ready to go by 9:30am, a lot faster than our previous tracking. The studio made a lot more sense the second time around and was easy to get sound to ProTools. The recording went well; first we set up the guitar, added a solo, recorded vocals and back-up vocals, and then finally the percussion sounds. All the recording went well, it just took a bit of time to audition and process all the microphones. However this process was a nice way to get around to using a bunch of different sounds in the Studio. Jon was a great person to record with. He had the song down and played it really well. In the end I think the song turned out really well and I look forward to mixing it!
